Emu Dreaming cuff in gold

Wear a piece of aboriginal art on your wrist.

This unique Australian cuff bracelet is the result of a collaboration between painter Raymond Walters Japanangka and jeweller Lisa Engeman.

Raymond's colourful interpretation of the Emu Dreaming story has been photo anodised onto aluminium by Lisa from Occulture Design. Lisa has a long running collaboration with aboriginal art communities and this limited edition of Emu Dreaming jewellery supports the not-for-profit organisation, Red Dust Role Models, which promotes health to remote communities.

Emu Dreaming is a story of hundreds of emus that travelled across central Australia with many of them perishing on the way. In their search for food, one emu met a turkey and asked if it knew where there was Kujuta, a sweet fruit, but the turkey replied that it only had dry, tasteless bush tucker. However, the emu stayed until the turkey left and went to where it had earlier seen the turkey and found a trench filled with sweet and tasty Kujuta. When the turkey returned and saw the emu, a fight broke out between them and as the emu was trying to hit the turkey with its wing, it scattered the Kujuta around and thus creating and forming the landscape of Ngarleyekwerleng near Mt Allen.

This cuff is 44mm at its widest and has an internal circumference of 17.5cm.

The cuff can be ordered with sterling silver tips as on some of Lisa's other designs and it is also available to order in blue, green, orange or purple.
