Australian earrings – Water Dreaming

A pair of small native Australian hoop earrings with Water Dreaming charms in black, white and gold colours.

These sterling silver hoops have a little square charm threaded on them. The charm is anodised aluminium with a little snippet from an aboriginal painting. Each charm is a different snippet from the painting.

This Water Dreaming painting is done by Julie Nangala Robertson and the site depicted in her painting is Mt Farewell in the Northern Territory. Here two rainmakers sang the rain, unleashing a giant storm that collided with another storm. A brown falcon carried the storm further west and across the country. When the storm eventually became too heavy for the falcon, it dropped the storm at Pirlinyarnu, creating a large lake. Whenever it rains today, hundreds of bush ducks still flock to Pirlinyarnu.

These Australian earrings native are 18mm and the squares 11mm.
